STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS AND CLUBS

Through the Student Development Department, you may participate in your choice of more than 200 student groups available on the Monterrey Campus such as:

  • FEITESM – university students government
  • CARE - regional association of students
  • Student chapters of professional organizations
  • Specialized groups (i.e. entrepreneurship)
  • Community service

Each year, these student groups organize over 800 events. More than 6,000 students from the Monterrey Campus and 240,000 people from all over the country attend these events which cover:

  • Academics
  • Culture
  • Sports events such as women's "tochito", running, Kung Fu, archery, bowling, hiking, or rock climbing
  • Social services
  • Field trips
  • Workshops
  • Our most traditional events are: EXPOTEC, Tecnológico de Monterrey Anniversary, Queens Ball, and the Tree of Brotherhood.

    TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY´S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

    There are many options available to you at Tecnològico de Monterrey. In addition to classes designed especially for you as an International Student, you may register for any number of regular classes that are attended by our degree-seeking students. If you wish to do so, your proficiency in Spanish must meet the required skill levels. Or, you may register for one of the regular courses that are taught in English. Discuss this option with your home advisor before your arrival. Be sure to have a few alternatives in mind just in case your first choice(s) is unavailable for any reason.

    Class size averages 30 students. Teamwork, small group projects and student participation are all highly encouraged by your professors. Homework is assigned regularly and, in order for you to qualify to take your final exam, your attendance in class is required al least 80% of the time (additional exams may be given throughout the semester).

    Credits: 3 credits each (3 class hours per week).
    Maximum credit load: 18 credits (6 courses) for Fall/Spring sessions.
    6 credits (2 courses) for Summer session.

    Programs Offered for international Students

    Tecnológico de Monterrey’s modern technology makes it possible for you to study and access important information online. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you bring a laptop or personal desktop computer with you. You will be asked to log onto the Internet in order to:

  • Check course materials.
  • Obtain your class assignments.
  • Turn in your homework.
  • Participate in online discussion groups.

  • Tecnológico de Monterrey generates its final costs on a semester basis, so the prices here presented are close estimates of the final price. Please ask for current prices when you apply for admission or wait to receive the final list of prices on your acceptance package. In either case the differences between these estimated costs and the final ones should be minimal.
  • Prices given in US Dollars are for reference purposes only and do not represent the actual cost since variations on the exchange rate happen every day. Tecnológico de Monterrey will only charge tuition and any other fees or services in Mexican pesos, even though the payment can be made in US Dollars at the exchange rate of the day of payment.
  • The exchange rate considered for the prices presented in US Dollars was 10.21 pesos per dollar (June, 2008). And the exchange rate for 2010 in US Dollars was 12.00 pesos per dollar (May, 2009).
  • Exchange students: those students that will participate in one of Tecnológico de Monterrey’s programs by applying through an existing exchange agreement between the student’s home university and Tecnológico de Monterrey. The student is required to pay tuition to his/her home university.
  • Independent students: those that will participate in one of Tecnológico de Monterrey’s programs by applying directly to Tecnológico de Monterrey. The student is required to pay tuition to Tecnológico de Monterrey.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applying to Tecnológico de Monterrey – None- degree seeking International Program – is very simple, please determine the type of student you are, Exchange or Independent Student:

Exchange Students:
Students applying through an existing exchange between the student’s home university and Tecnológico de Monterrey, you must be nominated by your exchange program office or similar. In most of the cases, the student will pay tuition directly to their home university.*

Independent Students:
All those students applying directly to Tecnológico de Monterrey, no exchange program is needed. Students are required to pay tuition and services directly to Tecnológico de Monterrey.

EXCHANGE STUDENTS

Send by courier or express mail the following documents (Use DHL, UPS, FedEx, etc., please don’t use any regular mail).

  1. Tecnológico de Monterrey Admission Application Form. You will find this online CLICK HERE, or request it via email at: ip.mty@itesm.mx. You will require the approval of your study abroad advisor.
  2. Your most recent School Transcript with a minimum average of 80 (Mexican system) or GAP of 2.5 (USA system). Cases of average between 70 – 79 (GPA 2.0 – 2.5) will be considered at length.

INDEPENDENT STUDENTS

Send by courier or express mail the following documents (Use DHL, UPS, FedEx, etc, please don’t use any regular mail).

  1. Tecnológico de Monterrey Admission Application Form. You will find this online CLICK HERE, or request it via email at: ip.mty@itesm.mx
  2. Your most recent School Transcript with a minimum average of 80 (Mexican system) or GPA of 2.5 (USA system). Cases of average between 70 – 79 (GPA 2.0 – 2.5) will be considered at length.
  3. Letter of recommendation
    (From a professor or advisor who knows your class works well)
  4. A non refundable Admission Fee of 100 USD that can be paid on any of the following methods:
    • Check from a US bank or from an International Bank with a partner in th US (the name of the US bank has to be printed on the forehead part of the Check.
    • International Money Orders (Postal Money Orders are not accepted)
    • American Express traveler checks.
    • Note: Checks should be issue to ITESM

HOUSING PROGRAMS

If you wish to apply either to Host Family or Residence Halls, besides the Application Form, include the following:

Host Family Program

  • A short essay about family life style and habits.
  • A non – refundable check for 100 USD as Program Fee The balance of the total should be paid upon your arrival.
Residence Halls
  • A down payment for 450 USD, to secure your reservation. Once your down payment won’t be refunded, the balance should be paid upon your arrival
